Theme: “Building Impactful Collaborations: Transforming Needs into Actions”
The 15th ASEAN Medical Deans’ Summit (AMDS) 2025 and AMSN Student Chapter take place in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, hosted by the Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing, Universitas Gadjah Mada. This year’s summit gathers medical education leaders from across the ASEAN region to strengthen collaboration and transform shared needs into measurable action.
On May 26th 2025, the summit begins with a traditional dance performance, followed by welcoming speeches and the official opening ceremony.
Speakers include:
- Prof. dr. Yodi Mahendradhata, M.Sc., Ph.D., FRSPH
- Prof. Dato’ Dr. Yang Faridah Abdul Aziz
- Prof. Dr. Ova Emilia, M.Med.Ed.





The day continues with four plenary sessions, each addressing crucial issues in medical education:
- Plenary Session I: The Current Challenge of Teaching and Learning in Medicine
Speakers from the National University of Singapore, Universiti Malaya, and Universitas Indonesia explore how modern-day challenges shape teaching strategies and student engagement.
(Moderator: Thammasat University, Thailand) - Plenary Session II: Innovation and Development of Educational Technology for Medical Education
Experts from Hanoi Medical University and St. Luke’s Medical Center College of Medicine (Philippines) discuss the integration of digital tools and simulation in medical education.
(Moderator: Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, Thailand) - Plenary Session III: The Future of Research in Medicine
Chulalongkorn University and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia highlight trends and challenges in fostering impactful medical research.
(Moderator: Hanoi Medical University, Vietnam) - Plenary Session IV: Electives for Facilitating Student Personal Development
Speakers from Universitas Gadjah Mada, Ramathibodi Hospital (Mahidol University), and Universiti Sains Malaysia present on using elective programs to nurture leadership, professionalism, and student well-being.

In the afternoon, simultaneous sessions encourage deeper collaboration through actionable program development:
- Session I focuses on teaching and educational technology, covering teacher mobility, curriculum harmonization, learning resources, and simulation center sharing.
(Facilitators: Universitas Indonesia and University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Ho Chi Minh City) - Session II explores research and student engagement, including expert and topic identification, student mobility, and elective programs.

The summit emphasizes the ASEAN Medical School Network’s commitment to co-creating sustainable solutions and reporting progress annually, driving forward a unified vision for health professional education in the region.
